Web technologies get bigger and bigger importance in the present time. Their main advantage is not only availability in the frame of global WWW but also growing relevancy in the frame of internal enterprise networks (intranet) in a view of an easy maintenance, uniform user environment (web browser) and economical benefit. This trend does not eliminate GIS applications, where the majority of end users only needs view the data. Thus, Web technologies allow offer GIS to the large number of users. It is not necessary to install expensive and not user-friendly software but it is enough to use a common PC with an Internet browser.
For you, who need to publish your data on Internet, we prepared advantageous solution:
INTERNET MAP APPLICATIONS
On a Open source map server !!
The Open Source map server called MapServer, developed by University in Minnesota (USA) in the frame of NASA grant, is a basement of our Internet applications, which we would like to introduce and offer to you. For the MapServer users in the whole world, who work with wide application spectrum is certainty a good news that they do not have to spend large amount of money on purchasing a map server like it is usual for commercial products. But at the same time present MapServer is very powerful CGI application providing a wide function range for displaying maps in Internet environment. MapServer is able to work both in UNIX system (e.g. Linux) and Microsoft Windows. Ukázka aplikací 1
Ukázka aplikací 2 Supported input vector formats are ESRI ShapeFiles, optionally MapInfo TAB, DGN or data stored in Oracle SDO, ESRI ArcSDE or PostgreSQL databases. Raster supported formats are TIFF, GEOTIFF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, ERDAS Image, ESRI GRID etc. MapServer provides truetype font support, intelligent labelling, thematic map building, spatial and attribute queries, on-the-fly configuration, on-the-fly cartographic projection of input data in different co-ordinate systems (both vector and raster data are supported), etc. Another useful function is on-the-fly cartographic projection of input data in different co-ordinate systems (both vector and raster data are supported !).
The MapServer output is a raster map in GIF, PNG, JPG (for Internet browsers of personal or pocket computers) or WBMP formats (for mobile phones supporting WAP), optionally PDF or GML vector format. Our applications use wide range of possibilities provided by MapServer. They are simple for the operation on one side but on the other side they enable an effective work with geographic data and also bring interesting varieties of solutions. They are very variable and besides below described uses they also allow other solutions according to your requirements. Ukázka aplikací 3
msBASIC Application
The basic application provides the user with a client environment programmed by DHTML and Javascript . The application is focused on end user equipped by a common Internet browser.

In the present, the application supports these functions:
  • pan/zoom in/out/zoom rectangle interface
  • single layers switching on/off
  • map queries
  • element searching according to their attributes
System requirements:
  • computer with Pentium processor, graphic card enabling at least 256 colour resolution, mouse
  • Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 operating systems
  • Internet Explorer v. 4.0 and higher
msEDIT Application
The application is based on the use of java applet and supports these functions:
  • pan/zoom in/out /zoom rectangle
  • single layers switching on/off
  • map queries
  • element searching according to their attributes
  • length and area measurement, reading of co-ordinates
  • displaying a position of connected GPS equipment
  • capturing of GPS position and measurement parameters during editing together with sending every break point information to the server (The connection between GPS and msEDIT application is enabled by DDE or OLE between application reading data from GPS (a part of msEDIT) and Internet browser.)
  • Authorisation mechanism enables setting rights for viewing or editing data for each user on either layer or record level.
  • The application allows editing of points, lines and polygons on-line. It also supports a creation of complex objects (polygons with holes and islands), shifting of the cut window during editing etc. Every record is authorised; delete function is permitted only to the user, who arranged the record. The input of attributes from the forms prepared in advance is a part of editing. All edit data are immediately saved into ShapeFile layers or SQL database on server, therefore all users have immediate access to them.
System requirements:
  • computer with Pentium processor, graphic card enabling at least 256 colour resolution, mouse
  • Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 operating systems
  • Internet Explorer v. 4.0 and higher one with Java Virtual Machine (it is a part of IE)
msPDA Application
The application is used for displaying of maps on mobile PDA devices with limited possibilities of Internet browser and small screen. On the server side it cooperates with a special PHP-Mapscript program. After the connection of a communication module (GSM, GPRS phone) you can use the application for operative (inspection) terrain work.
msPDA application enables:
  • basic movement in a map
  • single layers switching on/off
  • map queries
  • point layer editing (editing of database attributes of all layers)
  • the same user access to data like at msEDIT application
System requirements:
  • a pocket computer with a colour display
  • an arbitrary operating system with installed HTML browser
What is the content of our applications?
Jointly for all versions:
  • map server installation in UNIX together with compilation
  • creation and getting a sample project with the customer data in standard formats (ShapeFile, TIFF into approximately 20-25 layers) into running
  • server administrator training (getting to know server work principles, the structure of controlling server pages, HTML templates etc.)
  • essential basic data preparation
Furthermore for msBASIC application:
  • client DHTML application module for work with a map
Furthermore for msEDIT application:
  • client JAVA application for work with a map and layer editing
  • program module for layer editing on the side of server, installation of Mapscript module into PHP, possibly PHP language installation
  • setting of user access to projects and data
Furthermore for msPDA application:
  • PHP module for work with a map
  • program module for layer editing on the side of server, installation of Mapscript module into PHP, pertinently PHP language installation
  • setting of user access to projects and data
It is possible to enlarge all the application according to customers wishes. The price will be assessed in compliance with our work volume (data modification, other formats support, on-line projections, programming of other application functions etc.)

We also offer map-hosting your data exposure directly on our server for very advantageous prices!!
